ABSTRACTMASTER THESISAN ANALYSE OF A DESEASES WITH BIOCHEMICAL DATA BY USING DATAMININGŞengül DOĞANFirat UniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied ScienceDepartment of Bioengineering2007, Page: 91An electronic revolution is currently occurring; it causes a very fast development of thedata volume in many fields like medicines, industry, and education. These data form vast datapools, and it gets more and more difficult to obtain the aimed data from the data available.Especially the analyze of the data which is available in the medical data bases, makingdecisions, and the discovery of new data in the administrative phases and the impressiveapplication of these data, the fast and practical processes carried out by computers have easedthe facilities of the experts.A decision support system which will be used in analyzing deceases likemyocardial infarctus, hyperlipidemics, iron deficiency anaemia, and hypertiroide- hypotiroidyhas been planned in this thesis. One of the data mining methods; the decision trees method hasbeen applied in this decision support system. The parameters which have been selected from thebio- chemical data, which were applied by the doctors while analyzing each decease which wasdetected in this system, were considered as a base for the evaluation which was carried out. Theresults of this method were thoroughly in compliance with the decision of an expert.Key words: Data Mining, Pattern recognition, Expert systems, Decision trees, Decision supportsystems, Biochemistry parameters.IX
