The usage of data mining in Medicine and an application: Analysis of risk factors? interactions according to risk levels for hemodialysis patients

Data mining is composed of several methods used within very different fields in order to gain new information from discovered data patterns. For the field of medicine, the amount of medical data and its vital importance make the usage of data mining in medicine a requirement. In this thesis, the usage of Data mining in the field of Medicine is analysed. For the application study, a data set formed by collecting data of dialysis patients treated for 12 months or more from a private dialysis center. By running classification, clustering and decision tree algorithms on this data set in ESTARD and WEKA softwares, decision rules are obtained as the results. These decision rules are analysed with the expert support and tried to gain useful patterns from interactions of risk factors according to risk levels.
