Data envelopment analysis and an application in forest management

Forest occupy mor© than one-third of İh® Earth's surface area and forest management plays an essential role in environmental management. The task of forest management requires the application of business methods and technical forestry principles to the operation of a forest property. In managing forests, the relative efficiency of management accomplishments should be evaluated to obtain a guideline for future planning. However, t© evaluate whether a multiple- use forest is efficiently managed 9s very difficult because many outputs do not have market values. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficiency of General Directorates of Forestry between 1994 and 2002. Therefore the efficient is found by employing the Data Envelopment Analysis, the results are presented in tables and evaluated. Key Words : Data Envelopment Analysis, Efficiency, Forest Management
