Abstract (EN)

Objective: The purpose of this study is to show that vHIT is a complementary test to cVEMP in the diagnosis of vestibular neuritis. Methods: 518 patients who applied to Baskent University Istanbul Health Application and Research Center Hospital and Baskent University Ankara Hospital Otolaryngology Department between 2014-2018 with dizziness were examined retrospectively and archive materials were screened. Thirty-two patients who were diagnosed as vestibular neuritis and underwent vHIT, cVEMP and caloric tests as a result of clinical examination and audiovestibular examinations were included in the study. Results: Of the 32 patients included in the study, 18 were female and 14 were male. The mean age of the patient group was 49.6 years. The pathological percentage of vHIT in non-pathologic cVEMP cases was 100, whereas the pathological percentage of vHIT in pathological cVEMP cases was 22.2. According to cVEMP, there was a statistically significant difference in the pathological percentage of vHIT (p <0.001). In addition, the pathological percentage of vHIT in non-pathologic cVEMP cases was higher than the pathological cVEMP cases. Conclusion: Based on the findings of our study, vHIT was a complementary test to cVEMP in the diagnosis of vestibular neuritis. In this way, vHIT and cVEMP findings of patients with channel paresis have been obtained and we have been predicted about other peripheral vestibular diseases that may occur in the future. Key words: vestibular neuritis, video head impulse test, caloric test, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials
