Abstract (EN)
This thesis aimed to study the low mechanical properties of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) was mixed Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (R-PET) to obtained high mechanical properties. Also we aimed to increase the processebility of R-PET with the helping of HDPE. Ethylene Ethylacrylate Glycidyl Methacrylate Terpolymer (E-EA-GMA) was used a compatibilizer. First of all to see the effect of screw speed, the R-PET/HDPE/E-EA-GMA (30/67/3) blends were prepared at five different screw speed (5-8-10-12-15-18 hertz). Than R-PET/HDPE blends were prepared at various R-PET compositions of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 50wt% in a twin screw extruder. In addition R-PET/HDPE/E-EA-GMA compatibilized blends were prepared with 3wt% and 5wt% E-EA-GMA. All process parameters were kept constant during the preparing all of blends. Then, the samples were moulded by using injection moulding machine for measuring of mechanical properties. First of all the Young Modulus of R-PET/HDPE blends were increased by concentration of R-PET without compatibilizer. On the other hand the increase of amount R-PET badly affected in tensile stress because of weak interaction between R-PET and HDPE polymers. This weak interaction between polymers were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)analysis. The two polymers are immiscible and need to be compatibilized in order to be used in commercial applications. So 3wt% and 5wt% E-EA-GMA were added in the blends to solve the problems. Addition of compatibilizer decreased the droplets size and interphase tension. The more homogenous morphology was obtained and tensile strength was increased. The result of study, optimal parameters were tried to determine for the blend can be used in pipe production
