Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT In recent years, innovations in integrated circuit and communication technologies led to unparalleled processing and communication speed. As an inevitable result, multimedia data types that were computationally very expensive before, has been employed widely in computer systems. Those data types largely include data extracted from real world, like images, video and audio, which all required vast storage space, impressive communication and processing speeds and have little meaning per byte. The next generation of computers systems is predicted to employ even larger data with more precision and thoroughness. As a matter of fact, new computer algorithms and processing techniques was needed to deal with multimedia data more effectively. Those new techniques made use of the fact that, data is almost immune to errors. Therefore, the trade off lied on behalf of speed. On the other hand, Internet has been one of the most important means of communication beyond large distances, widening every other day. The most outstanding factor behind this impressive accumulation, has tended to be its ability to allow any host use Internet with a minimum set of communication protocols. The thesis aims to examine general nature of those technological advances and to design a system called "Multimedia News Database" to manage, organise and publish multimedia data over the WWW. Consequently, new system is feasible in that it makes use of existing infrastructure, and innovative since it implements core of new technologies.
