Abstract (EN)

The 14th century when the Seljuk domination ended and beyliks (principalities) as well as Ottoman Empire founded was the landmark in terms of literature. After the Farsi had ceased to be the official language, the Turkish language was widely settled and became the literary language during that century. From this point of view, the fundamentals of Divan Literature should be mainly looked for in such period. In this study, we try to provide an insight into the emergence of Divan literature, anatomizing the beloved, which occupies a wide space in the heart of Divan poetry. Exactly revealing the concept of the beloved as in the 14th century and identifying its role in the formation of the custom will provide solution of many literary problems by specifying the relationship between custom, artist and community and will serve as a guiding spirit in comprehending and evaluating the subsequent centuries. In this study, the beloved who was considered by poets as a common object is assessed within the framework of similes, in an effort to identify the relationship of the beloved with nature, state organization, community structure, social life, custom, cosmography, and to reveal the status of the lover against her the beloved.
