Abstract (EN)
IV SUMMARY The name of this thesis is "Waterpainting in Turkish Art From The 19 th Century- Till Now". This thesis consists four main units; the first unit mantions the history of the waterpainting art from the begining till the first days of the 20 th Century has been researched in the world, and by the Turks. İn the second unit, the topic is about artists who were engaged with waterpainting from the late Ottomans age till current painters are mentioned; Nüzhet İslimyeli, Ahmet Selami Gedik, Gülseren Sönmez, Turan Enginoğlu, Sevgi Soylu Koyuncu, Asuman & Atanur Doğan, we've mode interviews with these artists, and their replies are in it. In the catalogue in the third unit 5 pieces of each artist mentioned above are examined.A general evaluation of the topics implored and evolutions in stlye from the 1 9 th century till now are the main topic of the fourth unit. As result we've understood that waterpainting is one of the ancient painting techniques of world's history, that it was widely used as "lavi" in only one colour at the Renessaince, and that it was at its utmost in the England of the 18 th Century. Waterpainting in the Turkish painting art history was first in proved as wall paintings and miniatures in the Uygur Age, it reached its peak with the miniature teachnique in the Selçuk-Ottoman Age. During the renewing waves in the 17 th century there has been a shift to western painting arts, especially in millitary schools waterpainting education was a popular subject. First the overall topic werelandsapes and still life, currently portreits and everthing related with man is a topic widely impored in this technique. At the end of this thes is, the materials used for waterpainting, practice technques and biographies of the artists whose pieces were observed in the catalogue are added.
