Abstract (EN)
Caucasus in the first half of nineteenth century, attracted attention of whole world. After the invasion of Nort Caucasus by the Russians, many state began to be interested in this region. When the concern heading towards the region combined with the activity of missionary supported by Russia, an interesting period of Caucasus history appeared. This study is based on travelbooks of European travelers serving activity of missionary on a large scale. In the first and second chapter, knowledges given about Caucasus societies by travelers is explained. In the last chapter, information was given on the missionary activities from aforemetioned travelbooks. Keywords: Circassians, Tatars, Abassian, Ingusches, Missionary
