Analysis of basic health statistics of a province from a lean management perspective

Aim: The aim is to compare the basic health statistics of Ordu province with the statistical data of Türkiye in general and to analyze the basic health statistics of Ordu province within the framework of lean management. Material and Method: Basic health statistical data from the units of the Ordu Provincial Health Directorate and data from the official website of the Turkish Statistical Institute were analyzed and trends were interpreted on a yearly basis. Results: An analysis was conducted using tables and graphs based on demographic data, mortality rates, healthcare utilization rates and numbers, vaccination rates, and cancer screening rates for Ordu province. While the study reveals that Ordu province's basic health indicators are generally at good levels, it also indicates that, despite this positive outlook, some indicators require further improvement. Conclusions: An analysis of basic health statistics for Ordu province, conducted from a lean management perspective, reveals that the province's health indicators are numerically positive compared to the national average. It is crucial to provide more comprehensive and effective home health services and eliminate potential waste during service delivery. Furthermore, preventive health services should be prioritized and health screenings expanded. Reducing the population per family medicine unit demonstrates improved access to primary health care. This is considered a significant development in terms of increasing the effectiveness of preventive health care and reducing the number of visits to secondary health care.
