Abstract (EN)

Forest fires, as well as ecological as well as economic damages, and often threaten human life are environmental problems. Forest fires and forests lose many functions. In order to initiate fire fighting activities in the fight against forest fires in a timely manner, it is very important to identify and locate forest fires as soon as possible. In the study area there are forests mixed with pure Red Pine and Red Pine. The majority of the forests are red pine forests which are important for the risk of fire. Especially in areas with fire sensitive forests, fire observation towers are made in order to observe possible forest fires that may occur at high times of fire. In this study, the locations of the fire observation towers deployed in a sample study area will be evaluated using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) techniques using Visibility Analysis. Similar studies from the past to the present have been made for different areas. However, although there is a fire sensitive region in the Mediterranean Region, Adana Region has not been studied. All the studies carried out in local areas, small areas were studied. After the location of the observation points on the map is determined, the necessary application procedures will be made and the errors will be checked. For each observation point, necessary measurements will be taken and photographs of towers and areas will be taken. In this study, the visibility analysis of the existing fire observation points within the Adana Regional Directorate of Forestry will be done by using GIS and the current visible field mapping and evaluation will be done. In addition, alternative observation towers will be identified by using GIS and the scenario will be evaluated. As a result of the study, alternative observation points will be determined by evaluating the area from the towers.
