Use of glass as column, beam and flooring in construction

Glass has been a product that has developed from past to present day. Since the day it has been, it has answered many human needs. While it is used primarily as decorations and souvenirs, the need for a glazed surface has become important after being used in buildings. It has been increasingly used day by day. Glass, which is preferred in many areas such as security, energy and daylight control, is tested as a loadbearing system element in the 21st century. For this purpose, it is investigated that it is used as façade element at the beginning and it is now part of the main bearing system of the structure. In this study, it is investigated the suitability of using as a structural system element in glass, column, beam and flooring units. The performance of the glass as a structural system element was tested by numerical analysis method by creating designs in different sections in ANSYS structural analyses program. For the data used in the study, the previous experiments in the literature were utilized. The results of the study were compared with previous studies. The resulting data show how safe it is to use glass as a structural element in the construction, and it is an example of the designs to be applied.
