Yarı-kurak tarımsal ekoloji; Niğde' de bulunan çok yıllık bitkilerin ekolojik, toprak sağlığı ve sosyokültürel katkılarının araştırılması

The strategic geography of Türkiye between Europe and Asia affords it eight agroecological zones. More than half the semiarid agroecological zone in Türkiye is found in Central Anatolia and it has unique vegetations and endemic species linked to the Irano-Turanian phytogeographic distribution. This study focused on the multifunctionality of tree species at landscape scale as well as the perceptions of tree-based ecosystem services and community values. Plant abundance estimation and species diversity, soil health analysis in four sites on the Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University campus was done. Also, a perception survey was conducted in the Niğde Province. Plant species in the Asteraceae and Poaceae were dominant while the relative abundance of species did not differ between sites having nitrogen and non-nitrogen fixing trees. In addition, the soil heath indicators did not differ by sites nor distance away from the trees and canopy cover. The perception of ecosystem services, community values and agroforestry did not differ between nitrogen and non-nitrogen fixing trees while there was preference for high value tree agroforestry. Trees were multifunctional; however, the landscape contributions may not be extensive and community perception is critical to derivation of maximum utilization.
