Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted at the Hazelnut Research Institute Directorate to determine pollinator varieties suitable for the 'FAE-1' hazelnut variety registered in 2012. As pollinator, 'Tombul', 'Allahverdi', 'Foşa', and 'Palaz' hazelnut varieties were used, with 'FAE-1' variety being self-pollinated as a control. In the study, 5 varieties were used in tree replicate: 'FAE-1' x 'Tombul', 'FAE-1' x 'Palaz', 'FAE-1' x 'Foşa', 'FAE-1' x 'Allahverdi', and a control group of 'FAE-1' x 'FAE-1', totally 900 flowers were pollinated with 60 in each replication. Before the stigmas of the main varieties became receptive (still immature pistils), emasculation was performed. Pomological analyses were conducted on the fruits obtained from the study. Fruit weight, kernel weight, yield, shell thickness, fruit size, wrinkled kernel ratio, healthy kernel ratio, empty fruit ratio, fiber content, fruit length, fruit width, fruit thickness, kernel length, kernel width, kernel thickness, and the number of fruits in the husk were evaluated in the analyses. Pollinator varieties' fruit set rates in the main varieties were determined after harvest. As a result of the study, it was determined that the highest ratio of shell thickness, kernel thickness, kernel length, kernel width, fruit weight, kernel weight, and kernel width was obtained from the 'FAE-1' X 'Palaz' pollination. The highest ratio in terms of fruit thickness, fruit size, and fruit width was obtained from the 'FAE-1' X 'Foşa' pollination. The lowest ratios in terms of kernel thickness, fruit thickness, kernel length, kernel width, kernel thickness, fruit weight, kernel weight, fruit width, husk cavity, and kernel width were obtained from self-pollination. In terms of fruit set rate, the number of fruits in the husk, healthy kernel ratio, and yield, 'Allahverdi', 'Tombul', and 'Palaz' varieties are respectively recommended as pollinators for 'FAE-1'.
