Abstract (EN)

Theories in international relations allow us to interpret past and present events in the most accurate way. New-constructionist theory, which is one of the theories that emerged in recent history as a rebellion against traditional theories, has brought new expansions to events from a different perspective. Neo-constructionism generally evaluates the relations between actors from a sociological perspective and emphasizes the effect of identity on the structures to be built. Armenians, a nation whose history is full of migration stories, have built their identity with the events they have experienced over the years. The Republic of Armenia, which was established after the collapse of the Soviet Union, has survived to the present day under the influence of both the past and environmental factors. Diaspora communities scattered around the world manipulate Armenian policy makers, who are influenced by their identity and are torn between pursuing irredentist goals and producing rationalist policies. Diaspora, which has more knowledge and experience than the Republic of Armenia, affects the decision makers of the state as well as other important actors and structures in the world. In addition, the complex relations between the state and the diaspora, which appear to be far from reciprocal, are of great importance for both Armenia and the diaspora.
