Abstract (EN)
Our thesis, titled "The Development of New Media Art in Turkey: The Case of Candaş Şişman" is a research that deals with the development of new media art in Turkey from the earliest historically produced works, follows an artist and work-oriented approach, and aims to create a chronological and aesthetic conjuncture about the field. Since our thesis is an origin study, first of all, the expressions and concepts that make up the naming of 'new media art' are defined. Defining new media art requires examining various production processes such as computers, graphics, text, music, image and animation, which are the basic medium of this art. Therefore, our work continued by examining the earliest new media art works, exhibitions and organizations in the USA and Europe. Since the main purpose of our thesis is to examine the new media art in Turkey from the beginning to the present day, our research has focused on the production of works in Turkey and a comprehensive work production process from the first applications of new media art has been examined together with the activities of the actors in the field. The examined process was concluded with reflecting the working style in the field, and thus revealing the profile of a new media artist, by deepening the process specifically for Candaş Şişman, a new media artist from Turkey. Keywords: New Media Art, Candaş Şişman, New Media Art in Turkey
