Abstract (EN)

Since conventional energy sources that used in industry is depletable, many countries has focused their attention on renewable energy sources. Turkey which is one of the rapidly developed country have difficulty in energy demand due to rapid increasing population and industrialization. To maintain energy demand, the renewable energy sources must be used efficiently. In this study, the using and the potential of renewable energy sources in Turkey was analysed. Especially wind energy was focused on which is one of the renewable energy sources. The choosen zones of Balıkesir, Manisa and Çanakkale were used for infra-structure of this study. For some infra-structure calculations was performed by using Retscreen software programme. At the end of this study, with 76.573 MWh production annually, the zone of Çanakkale is the most convenient in other cities to plant a wind energy system for electricity production. Key Words: Renewable energy sources, Wind energy, Wind turbine, wind plant, RETScreen software.
