V UNDERGROUND COAL MINING DESIGN AND AN APLICATION TO A DISTRICT WITHIN TUNCBILEK COAL FIELD Erdem Sütçü Mining Engineering, M. Sc. Thesis, 2003 Supervisor: Prof. Dr. İ. Göktay Ediz SUMMARY In this study, an underground mining project was made in a lignite district of Tavsanli- Tuncbilek coal field. In this project, underground mining boundaries were determined by plotting the drill data on a topographical map. The coal reserve was calculated by obtaining coal isohips within this border. Support and transport system designs were made according to the production method and to the plan chosen. Ventilation system was also projected to provide safe ventilation requirements in the mine. Finally, water drainage system was designed in order to pump out the water to be collected in underground.
