Using peanut shells as adsorbent

Abstract (EN)

The kinetics and thermodynamic of 2,4-D adsorption on adsorbent produced from peanut shell was studied spectrophotometrically. The adsorption kinetics was found to follow the pseudo second-order equation.It was seen that adsorption rate increased with increasing consantration at a constant temperature. Intraparticle diffusion coefficient was found from the plots between adsorbed amount and square root of time. In the graph, the initial curve was explained by the boundary layer effect while the linear part was corresponded to intraparticle diffusion. Intraparticle diffusion coefficient were increased with consantration at a constant temperature. It was determinated that 2,4-D adsorption on adsorbent which produced from peanut shell by carbonization fit well in the Langmuir model. The thermodynamic parameters showed that adsorption process was physisorption and exothermic. The positive free entalphy value showed that the adsorption process isn?t spontenous.
