Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the role of processes and facts like globalization, popular culture and television series, which are effective in preferences, production, dressing and naming the local/regional clothes worn by women in Şanlıurfa, has been examined. Globalization and popular culture, have eliminated the concept of borders between countries. In this study, questions such as how and by whom the local/regional clothes worn by women in Şanlıurfa are named by being inspired by the artists, TV series, serial characters, current events and the symbols on the clothes, what are the effects of globalization, popular culture and television on naming were investigated.. In the field study conducted to investigate whether the Indian television series imported from abroad and broadcast on Channel 7 television have an effect on the naming of the fabrics brought from abroad, 4 different groups consisting of wholesalers, sellers, customers and tailors were interviewed with 5 people from each group and 20 people in total. In the interviews, the future of the clothes, the variety of products, the reasons for the preference of the women who wear them, the reasons for giving a current and popular name to the traditional clothes were investigated in detail.
