Thoughts and experiences of intensive care nurses about patient transfer

The research was carried out phenomenologically, which is one of the qualitative research designs of the study, which was prepared to evaluate the thoughts and experiences of intensive care nurses regarding patient transfer. This study was conducted with 18 intensive care nurses in Bursa Uludağ University Medical Faculty Hospital. The data of the study were collected between August and September 2021. The sample of the study consisted of 18 patients who met the inclusion criteria and volunteered to participate in the study with a 5% margin of error. Information on nurses; Introductory information form of nurses and intensive care nurses' thoughts and experiences about patient transfer were collected through an interview form developed by the researcher using the literature, and a one-to-one in-depth structured interview method. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the research.The findings of the research were given as numbers, percentages and themes. According to the intensive care nurses participating in the study; Before the transfer, the units to which the patient will be transferred should be notified and full communication should be established. Before the transfer decision of the patient is made, before the patient leaves the unit where he is followed, the function, operability and charge life of the material equipment that will accompany the patient should be considered. With the right protocols, communication, documentation and selection of appropriate materials before the transfer, many problems can be avoided during the transfer of patients.
