Poverty: Example of Elazığ

Poverty, as seen in a lot of country, is one of the serious problems of Turkey. Increasing poverty is a big preventer for both social peace and economic development.İn this study, welfare status of households in poverty are analyzed. Poverty status of households is examined under the following headings: socio-demographic structure, the position of men and women in the labor market, migration, physical living conditions, consumption patterns, using the forms of urban space, subsistence production, debt, traditional relationship networks, health, help, poverty and the perceptin of wealth.This study consists of four parts. In the first part, definition of poverty, related concepts, indicators and causes of poverty, actions related to poverty, and fight against to poverty were discussed. In the second part, some information was given on studies on poverty in Turkey and SYDGM and ?Mamurat?ül Aziz Beneficiary Association?. In the third part, the relationship between poverty and marginalization concept was investigated. Finally, the fourth section, the application of the poverty situation of households in the survey results are analyzed.Keywords: Poverty, Dependent Families , Fighting Poverty, Charities.
