The relationship between the leadership styles of administrators and their suspiciousness/paranoid ideation

The aim of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship between the leadership styles of administrators working in public institutions and their suspiciousness /paranoid ideation level or not. Accordingly, primarily a scale which is convenient to management field and which can survey the suspiciousness /paranoid ideation in normal population has been developed. This study has been conducted with 577 administrators working in public institutions. In this study ?Self-Description Form?, ?Leadership Styles Scale? and ?Suspiciousness /Paranoid Ideation Scale? have been used as the data collection tools and SPSS (11) software has been used for data analysis. According to the findings of this study, a statistically significant positive correlation was found between autocratic leadership style being used by the administrators and their suspiciousness /paranoid ideation level, but there was found a statistically significant negative correlation between democratic and laissez faire leadership styles and their suspiciousness /paranoid ideation level. Suspiciousness /paranoid ideation level didn?t show statistically significant differentiation in terms of gender, professional seniority, managerial seniority and managerial level, but a statistically significant differentiation has been found in terms of the organization where they work. When the range of leadership styles of the administrators were analyzed, it was found that the leaders who adopt autocratic style were more than the others. When the differentiation between the leadership styles of administrators and their gender, professional seniority, managerial seniority, managerial level and the organization they work, no statistically significant differentiation was found in terms of gender, professioal seniority and managerial seniority, but a significant differentiation was found in terms of managerial level and the organization they work.
