E-school evaluation in practice management information system

Educational organisations are the institituions that follow the most recent developments in terms of using information technologies. In line with the developments, educational organisations acquire the current and up-to-date applications of information technologies. In Turkey, Ministry of National Education (MNE) has started to use e-school service network system since 2006-2007 educational year in order to follow the developments of the information technologies. E-school is an administrative ?information system that enables to acceleratethe in-school processes and the close pursuit of the ongoing education. The system is developed particularly for the facilitation and accelerationof the workforce of teachers and school administrators in the administrative processes.The purpose of the present study is to identify the perceptions of the teachers and administrators in elementary schools in Muş Province of Turkey on the current level of the efficacy of e-school as an administrative-information system and to make an assessment of e-school administrative information system. Additionally, this study aims at identifying the agreement level of the teachers and administrators on the structured views which were formed by the interviews with the teachers and school administrators in line with the aim of enhancement of e-school.Data collection tool of the study is the ?Assessment of the E-School Applications as an Administrative-Information System Questionnaire? which is a 5 point Likert type scale. The Questioonaire consists of three parts. First part includes the demographic and professional information about the participants such as gender, educational level and expertise. Second part includes thirty five items concerning e-school efficacy and the third part includes ten items concerning advices for e-school. The population of the study is 1698 teachers and school administratives that works in the Muş Province during the 2010-2011 educational year. The sample of the study consists of 835 randomly selected teachers and school administratives. The data gathered during this study is analyzed by a special data analysis package program. For the descriptive statistics frequency distributions, percentages, means, standard deviations were used. For the inferential statistics t- test and One-Way ANOVA were used. ? level is set at 0.05 level.According to the results of the study, teachers and school administrators working in elementary schools possess positive perceptions towards the efficacy of e-school as an administrative-information system. The results indicated that there is not a statistically significant difference between the perceptions of the majority of the teachers and the school administrators who think that e-school system is adequate in terms of institutional affairs, student affaires and student report card works period. There is a statistically significant difference between the teachers? and school administrators? perceptions of the favorite place of access to e-school and adequacy of e-school system.Key Words: Educational Administration Information System, E-school, Administrative Information Systems.
