Abstract (EN)
Ill SUMMARY Masters Thesis AN EXPERIMENTAL METHOD TO DETERMINE THE PERFORMANCE OF HIGH VOLTAGE INSULATORS Zekeriya Oral YA?DIRAN Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering 1997, Page: 66 High voltage insulators are effected from environmental conditions while working under service voltage. The pollution layer occures as a result of these conditions, interacts with atmospheric condition and forms a conducting layer that causes leakage currents on the surface of insulator. These leakage currents effect electrical power system negatively. In this work, surface leakage currents of polluted and clean insulators under various voltage levels have been measured. To reduce the leakage currents coils of different number of turns have been connected to the insulator and leakage current are examined under this circumstances.
