Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, geological - geotechnical studies on the design and construction of high speed railways have been investigated. The tunnel applications where this work is done most intensively are the main issue of this thesis. Pre-project, field researches and laboratory studies were examined. The projecting and construction stages of tunnels have been examined in detail. Tunneling methods were investigated and all aspects of NATM (New Austria Tunneling Method) applied in Ankara - İstanbul High Speed Train Project were discussed. This thesis study aims to investigate the geological and geotechnical structure of the tunnels opened in Vezirhan-İnönü section of Ankara-İstanbul 2.Etap High Speed Train Project and reveal the mineralogical-petrographic structure of the rock units encountered in the tunnels, method.
