Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of reduction of cyclone body diameter on separation efficiency based on Stairmand type high efficiency cyclone was investigated. For this purpose, five different size mini cyclone separators have been manufactured. Pressure loss coefficients and separation efficiencies of the manufactured cyclones were investigated experimentally. According to the results of this study, with the reduction of the cyclone body diameter, the efficiency up to a certain diameter has increased while the smaller diameters have been reduced. On the other hand, pressure losses have decreased continuously. Theoretically critical diameters were calculated based on the critical particle diameter for the separation efficiency of the cyclones. It is seen that the results obtained with the calculation result are compatible with the experimental results. Considering the Reynolds number according to the entrance section, the change of friction coefficient in the transition region and the laminar region was evaluated to be effective on the result.
