Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, we have studied the concept of migration, the factors causing migration and migration types. In addition, the social and economic effects of international migration have been examined and it have been tried to be interpreted those effects that have been brought about how changes people's social life. In order to fully understand and interpret the effects of this change, the concepts of acculturation and adaptation have been also discussed. In the thesis, the conceptual definitions of these two concepts are done, also the formation process and the factors affecting this process are explained and associated with international migration. Then, effects of international migration on acculturation and adaptation within the framework of the migration policy followed in Turkey have been examined. The aim of the research is to examine the adaptation process and problems experienced by Syrian students studying at Fırat University. Factors that affecting students adaptation processes which is education level, language, gender, age, religion, social identity, friendship relations, and level of participation in socio-cultural activities, have been examined.
