Abstract (EN)

Permanent magnet synchronous machines have less copper losses and higher efficiency compared with conventional electrical machines due to the having magnets in their structure. Permanent magnet synchronous machines have a wide usage area due to their advantages such as being small volume, have high power and torque density and using in wide speed range. They are used in many fields such as automotive, computer and space technologies, medical electronics and robotics. Another area where this machine structure are used is the generators in wind power plants. In this thesis, a permanent magnet synchronous generator with a power of 1,5 kW and a nominal speed of 450 rpm is has been used as a reference. In the introduction of the thesis, the sources in the literature about permanent magnet synchronous generators have been analzed and the information obtained has been given. In the second part, information about the structure, working principle, classification, used materials and magnets of permanent magnet synchronous machines have been given. Magnetic circuit and mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous machines have been given and the losses occurring in these machines have been mentioned. The finite element method and the information about the modeling of the generator used as a reference in ANSYS Electronics Desktop software have been mentioned in the material and method section. In the thesis study, the analysis of the reference generator in ANSYS Electronics Desktop software and experiments in the laboratory environment have been carried out. When the obtained experimental results, analysis results and catalog information of the reference generator have been compared, it was concluded that the results obtained with ANSYS Electronics Desktop software were generally compatible with the catalog data. It is thought that the differences are due to the experiment setup and the wear on the magnets of generator. In these types of machines, when changes are made in magnet pole arc to pole pitch ratio, magnet thickness and magnet type, the effects on the cogging torque, air gap flux density and efficiency parameters were investigated.
