Relationship between types of intelligence and psychological symptoms

The main purpose of this study was to investigate of the relationship between the different areas of intelligence comparing the levels of various psychological symptoms. A further aim of the study is to examine the intelligence areas and the psychological symptoms according to the different variables.The study carried out 647 university students who were studying Sakarya University, Education Faculty. When the sample wascreating, first the number of students identified as making proportions of the total number of students, then the student were selected randomly from every classses.In order to reach the datas related with the research Multiple Intelligence Inventory (Saban, 2002); Symptoms Check List-90-Revised Inventory (SCL-90-R; Derogatis, et al., 1977) and the Information Form that had been prepared by the researcher had been used.The datas, that had been obtained from the research, had been analysed by using a statistic program and varians analysis, t test, Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation technigues so all datas had been tested at .05 level.Acording to the results; there is a significantly relationship between intelligence areas and psychological symptoms. To the students? intelligence areas there were meaningful differences concerning with the gender, class level, accommodation, branch, academical achievement, socioeconomic status, mother and father?s education level. To the students? psychological symptoms there were meaningful differences concerning with the gender, class level, accommodation, branch, academical achievement, socioeconomic status, birth order and father?s education level.
