Abstract (EN)

Both natural and synthetic zeolites are sensitive to humidity. There are more than hundred and fifty artificial zeolite types, which are prepared by using different additives. In this study, zeolite Y that consists of hydrogen cation was used for fabricating humidity sensors. First of all, zeolite Y powder was characterized by standard techniques (XRD, EDX, DTA-TG and SEM) and compared with the commercial raw materials presently used for humidity sensor applications. A free powder model was developed to determine the ability of zeolite Y powder as a humidity sensor. After that, samples were prepared by two different methods. A humidity chamber and a resistive based electronic circuit were designed for the measurements. The reference sensor and the samples produced were set in the humidity cabin and their electrical properties (response time, sensitivity and working range) were investigated on oscilloscope. The study points that; zeolite Y powder can be used to produce humidity sensors. But it is necessary to develop new methods to achieve high sensitivities and reproducibility. Keywords: Zeolite Y, Humidity Sensors
