Abstract (EN)
Zinc borate is an important inorganic hydrate borate material, which can be used as a flame retardant agent and corrosion resistance material. Zinc borate's properties can be change according to B2O3 and Zn ratio. Zinc borate is generally used in ceramic, rubber, plastic, dye industry, electric insulation and cable, wood application, pharmacy and cement industry. Zinc borate is obtained by reaction of H3BO3 and ZnO in an aqueous medium over 70°C temperature. 2ZnO.3B2O3.H2O is one of zinc borate types. This compound has stable structures which expose hydration at higher than 290°C. Due to thermal stability; Zinc Borate can be used as flame retardant at high temperature process of plastic and gum. In this study, zinc borate was produced with using four different raw materials. In Zinc Borate synthesis, zinc chloride and zinc carbonate was used as Zinc source; boric acid, tincalconite, borax was used as boron source. After the zinc borate synthesis, the products analyzed by XRD, FT-IR, Raman Spectroscopy and SEM.
