Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the radioactivity measurements were performed for the sand samples collected from the beaches of Zonguldak province using the gamma spectrometer with HPGe detector. The average activity values of totally 28 sand samples were found as 18.88±1.16, 8.35±6.18, 167.66±12.17 and 3.38±0.34 Bq/kg for 238U, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs, respectively. The estimated annually average effective dose is 0.028±0.0056 mSv/y. The effective dose is below the international average effective value given by UNESCEAR 2000 report.
