Social memory literature in the novels of 'Serenad' by Zülfü Livaneli and 'Himmelskörper' by Tanja Dückers

In this study, Zülfü Livaneli's "Serenad" and Tanja Dückers's "Himmelskörper" historical novels were examined and compared within the context of social memory literature. In the section of introduction, social memory literature is mentioned. We explained the stages and reasons for the emergence of social memory literature which appeared in Germany after the Second World War and in Turkey in 1980's. This study consists of introduction, five main sections, outline, bibliography and annexes. In the first part, the characteristics of Erinnerungsliteratur / Social Memory Literature were explained in the theoretical framework. the second part, comparative literatüre was explained in general framework, and general literature and historical novel were explained in theoretical framework. In the third part, a summary of the historical novels "Himmelskörper" and "Serenad" was given, the authors of the novels and the reader's comments are compared. I-narrative figures of the novels were compared in the fourth part, the real and fiction elements of the novels in the fifth part, the narrative art of the novels in the sixth part. In the conclusion section, we remarked the determination that the novels of social memory literature could bring the tabulated historical facts on the agenda, thus the historical facts could be re-evaluated and the historical tabularities could be demolished.
