Mustafa al-Halabi

This is considered a study and a documented scientific investigation of a portion of a manuscript entitled "Tuhfat al-Akhayyar Ala al-Dur al-Mukhtar." It was written during the time of the Ottoman State in the tenth-century AH, sixteenth-century AD by the author Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mustafa bin Ibrahim al-Halabi al-Madhari, who is considered one of the greatest scholars and dignitaries. This book is considered as one of the most important books of Hanafi jurisprudence as it contains all the subjects of the jurisprudence chapters. In addition, the author enriched the book with important sources and references including annotations from the book "al-Dur al-Mukhtar, which is considered one of the most important and only explanations from this book. However, it did not receive much attention, investigation, commentary, printing and publication. Allah Almighty has blessed me and a group of fellow students at Istanbul University to gather for the common purpose of studying and investigating this precious manuscript. We obtained copies of this manuscript from the Sulaymaniyah Library in Istanbul, a city full of scholars, libraries, schools, universities, and publishing houses. By the grace of Allah Almighty and thanks to those honest faithful men working to serve Islam and Muslims in every way, with such resources, Istanbul was able to regain its scientific and leadership position in the world during the last two decades. This research deals with part of the manuscript called "Tuhfat al-Akhayyar," from the section of generation called "al-Istilad," which is the chapter on how to divide "Kayfiati al-Qismah." During this study, an introduction was given of the books "al-Dur al-Mukhtar" and "Tanweer al-Absar" and their authors. The sources and references mentioned were defined abstractly along with the biography of their authors. Furthermore, the research methodology was explained and the study concluded with results and recommendations. This investigation was based on an interview of two copies of the original version, which was approved after careful consideration and consultation, praise be to Allah Almighty. I ask Allah Almighty to accept this simple effort and help the team of investigators to produce the manuscript, printed in one book, to be published and added to the libraries of universities, mosques, houses, and others.
