Abstract (EN)

The study discusses the literary movement in Baghdad during the nineteenth century، highlighting the landmarks and symbols of this movement، as well as the political and social conditions that paved the way for or accompanied its emergence. It reviews the literary history of Baghdad in the nineteenth century and the cultural factors that contributed to the launch of the literary movement، in addition to the obstacles it faced in its early stages. The study also emphasizes the transformations that occurred in poetry and prose، where new literary styles emerged، and writers and poets began to focus on precision of expression and deep meanings rather than on form. Additionally، there was a significant increase in the number of those engaged in literature، who filled the literary and scientific gatherings in Baghdad. The study focuses on the art of maqama as one of the most prominent literary forms of that period، tracing its history and development from its inception to the maqamat written by the scholar Abu Thana Al-Alusi، which represented a model of linguistic and rhetorical richness، as well as the evolution that occurred in prose. Notably، the author is considered a pioneer of the literary movement in Baghdad during that era. The research presents the biography of Al-Alusi and his influence on the literary renaissance، reflecting the importance of this study in understanding modern Arabic literature and its impact on Arab culture، particularly in Baghdad.
