Mahiyet konusunun usul-ı fıkıh ilmine etkisi: Hâs, âm konuları özelinde

The thesis aimed to highlight and shed light on the relationship between Islamic theology (ʿIlm al-Kalām) and the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Uṣūl al-Fiqh), particularly in terms of how theological tools and premises, which are studied and absorbed in theological discourse, influence the perspectives of jurists in the study of Uṣūl al-Fiqh. The thesis explored this connection in the context of the concept of "essence" (māhiyyah), which falls under a broad category known in theological discourse as "universal matters" (al-umūr al-ʿāmmah). It emphasized the importance of scholars engaging with different sciences when specializing in a particular field, and it underscored the deep interrelationship between these two disciplines, especially in the areas of preference (tarjīḥ) and reasoning (istidlāl). Building on this relationship, the thesis examined the connection between the concept of "essence" and the classifications of general and particular (ʿāmm and khāṣṣ), analyzing the intricate relationship between them. Furthermore, it highlighted how one of the juristic opinions on these matters is preferred based on a theological perspective regarding the concept of essence.
