Abstract (EN)
This study aims to clarify the methodology of the scholars of exegesis in relation to the principles of language and the extent to which they pay heed to them, under the title "Important linguistic principles required by the scholar of exegesis". This is through an extensive study of linguistic principles concerning pronouns, femininity and masculinity, definite and indefinite states, singularity and plurality, questions and answers, synonyms, the verbal noun, attachment, addressing another using a verb or a noun, and various linguistic principles. This study is composed of theory, through mentioning a linguistic principle and it's intended meaning, and also of application, through mentioning examples from Quranic verses where that principle applies. A descriptive inductive approach has been employed and relied upon in this study. This study comprises of a submission, an introduction and two sections. Each section is made up of issues and cases. Section One: principles related to pronouns, masculinity and femininity, definite and indefinite states, singularity and plurality, synonyms, and questions and answers. It is comprised of six issues. Section Two: principles related to the verbal noun, attachment, addressing another with a verb or a noun, and various linguistic principles. It is comprised of four issues. This study has resulted in various conclusions, of which the most important are: - that the linguistic principles employed by scholars of exegesis are by way of majority, hence they indicate to the potential meanings of Quranic vocabulary but do not dictate their meanings. The use of such principles by scholars of exegesis cannot be considered be poor judgement or an interference with exegesis. - that scholars of exegesis used linguistic principles to; clarify ambiguous words, explain meanings of Quranic words, and offer preference between differing opinions in exegesis, all of which they did either explicitly or via inference in their works of exegesis. - the careful consideration of the scholars of exegesis towards the principles concerning the pronoun and in specifying it's original point of inference, due to what results from that in terms of rules of exegesis and legislation. Likewise their emphasis on the presence of synonyms in the Holy Quran which is one of the many aspects of it's inimitability. Linguistic principles played a huge role is explaining some finer points and wisdoms found in the verses of the Holy Quran.
