Abstract (EN)

Views of History Teachers About the Difficulties which Occurs During the Teaching of Foreign Language Origin Historical Concepts in Turkish Republic Secondary Schools History Teaching Programme and Students History Book of 10th Classes This descriptive study aims to figure out the views of history teachers about the difficulties which occurs during the teaching of foreign language rooted historical concepts in Turkish Republic Secondary Schools History Teaching Programme and Students History Book of 10th Classes. To find a solution to problem of the study, answers of following questions? are researched ; ?what ae the views of history teachers about the relation between concepts? being foreign language rooted ones and the difficulities occures during the teaching of these concepts ? ?, ?what are the views of history teachers towards technics and methods of concept teaching?, ?what are the views of history teachers towards teachers? sufficiency?? and ?are there differences between teachers views of concepts? being part of foreign languages, technics and methods used in concept teaching and teachers? sufficiency according to their teaching experiences, kowledge of foreign language, faculties they graduated from and their kowledge of conceptual teaching education??. Secondary schools in Trabzon Province are the universe and the 20 history teachers of the random selected seven secondary schools are the research group of this study. Quantitive and qualitive part of this field study is ensured by a twenty-question questionnerie and semi structured interview form which are developed by researcher with the approval of expert views. Quantitive datas which are collected by questionnerie, are analysed in ANOVA , t-tests , and frequency tables via SPSS 15 package programme and transformed into findings. Quantitive datas, which are used to support qualitive findings, are collected by semi structured interview form and transformed into findings after being analysed via content anaylsis tables. As a result of the study ; teacher thinks that ; ?historical concepts? being a part of foreign lanuages originally create difficulities in conceptual history teaching?, ?while teaching foreign language rooted concepts in history, visual, audio and audiovisual tools should be used and student centered , active learning teaching methods should be reflected into classroom enviromnent?, ?history teachers are lack of conceptual teaching skills?, ?there are differences between teachers views about concepts? being a part of foreign lanuages originally in terms of their teaching experiences?, ?there are differences between teachers views about techincs and methods used in conceptual teaching interms of their facult that they graduated from? and there are no differences between teachers views in terms of their foreign language knowledge and their having concept teaching educations?. At the end of the study there are some suggestions for history teachers like including questions on their assesing tests to see misconceptions of students and using concept maps to remove them, for history teaching programme producers and secondary school history book writers like including these concepts into teaching programme and history teaching books with their Turkish equivalents and for the further researcers like making new reseaches to ases which foreing language rooted concepts create more difficulities to students while learning.
