Us-Pakistan relations after september 11th attacks: A Shaken alliance

After Pakistan declared its independence, the US recognition of Pakistan made the two countries' relationship official. Later, the two countries united against Russia and celebrated their collaboration with mutual treaties. Even though the US and Pakistan moved in concert during the Cold War, their relationship grew tense after the Cold War. This period, in which their respective threat perceptions differ, ended with the 9/11 attack. However, after the attack the two countries' alignment with each other did not last long-term. The US's changing security perception caused some changes in its foreign policy and the interests of the Pakistani government started to differ from the US's policy. The communication channels between two countries weaken. After Trump became the President of the US, this disagreement between the US and Pakistan has increased. The US accusation that Pakistan supported terrorism brought relations to the breakaway point. Improving dialogues with competing countries such as China and India deepened the confidence issues between the two countries. This study emphasizes the breaking points in relations between the US and Pakistan to ensure a better understanding of the above summary and to provide objective analyses with findings.
