Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the research is to determine the impact of the use of student-centered and teacher-centered Dynamic Geometry Software on the academic achievements and motivations of students in the teaching of the 11th grade's Transformations subject, and to determine the views of students about the DGY, used in the teaching of Transformations. In the quantitative dimension of the research, experimental research methods one-factor inter-group factorial design was used. The research was conducted on ninety-two 11th grade students who were studying at Esentepe Anatolian High School in the center in Adıyaman province center during 2016-2017 academic year. The research was conducted on three groups, two of which were experimental and one of which was the control group. The lectures were given to 32 students in the experimental group 1 in the DGY classroom environment by the teacher in the smart board or by the help of a projector and student-centered DGY was applied on 30 students of Experiments 2 Group in the laboratory environment. In the control group, 30 students were given the current curriculum program. In the qualitative dimension of the research, interview forms were applied to the students in experimental groups and opinions about the DGY were taken. The application of the research was carried out in 4 weeks by applying 24 hours, 6 classes per week, in the second semester of 2016-2017 academic year. Experimental group students were also informed about the basic features of DGY Cabri II Plus program. Mathematics Achievements test, which is devised by the researcher and is suitable for the themes of Transformations consist of 30 questions. The mean power of the test was found to be .58 and the reliability coefficient was found to be Kuder Richardson-20 (KR) value of .74. As a result of research, it was seen that the students in the experimental groups, using the teacher and student centered DGY Cabri II Plus program were found to be more successful in the academic achievements than the students in control group. A statistically significant difference was found in favor of the Experiment 2 Group when the motivation total scores of all three groups were compared with each other. On the other hand, the conclusion of the content analysis of the data obtained from the opinion form was that, the students of the experimental groups though that the lessons which learned with using of DGY Cabri II Plus were more funny, meaningful, visual, fast, and practical. In the direction of the results obtained from the research, suggestions have been presented to the next studies and researches.
