Abstract (EN)

In our thesis, the effect of September 12, 1980 coup occuring in Turkey on teaching of Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution in secondary school is searched to reveal the positive and negative effects of the coup on Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution lesson by examining the course books, decrees, directives and newspapers, journals, articles, books written for Atatürk's principles and the History of Turkish Revolution. In the research, the method of screening was used and the literature, newspapers, journals, regulations, articles, Atatürk Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution Educational Programmes and Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution books were examined and compared. As a result of the research, Atatürk's Principles and Turkish Revolution History lesson at the second stage of basic education in 1981 began to be taught in the name of the Turkish RepublicRevolution History. The number of hours in the History of Turkish Revolution lesson has been increased by decreasing the number of other courses. It is foreseen that texts about Atatürk such as his life and personal characteristics should be included in the books.. Moreover , as a unifying and integrative element, 'Kemalism'was concluded in the textbooks.
