Investigation of the peer support levels of 12th grade high school students in terms of different variables

The purpose of this study is to examine peer support levels of high school students, who received education in Erzurum in the 2018-2019 academic year, in terms of sports and different variables. The research was carried out on 1001 individuals, 399 females and 602 males, studying at 12th grade level in Anatolian High Schools located in the center of Erzurum province. In the study, the student presentation form developed by the researcher and Peer Support Scale consisting of Physical Assistance, Academic Assistance and Emotional Assistance sub-dimensions developed by Kuo (2007) and its validity and reliability for Turkish society measured by Çalışkan and Çınar (2012) were used.For analysis of data, SPSS 22.00 package program was used and the data were processed by transferring to the computer.In the analysis of data, frequency distribution was used to examine the difference between two independent variables and peer support, and ANOVA Analysis of Variance was used to examine the difference between more than two variables and peer support.The difference between the variables was interpreted based on the p<0.05 significance level. According to the obtained results, it was determined that there was a significant positive difference between the students' fitness status, sports type and weekly training time and peer support level. As a result, it was observed that participation in sports activities improved peer support positively.In relation to the results of the study, conducting more comprehensive studies to different age groups, especially those involved in sporting activities, may be presented as a recommendation.
