Abstract (EN)
Sharia Registries are one of the very valuable written sources that convey the socio-cultural and economic life in the Ottoman Empire until our time, give us very important information and shed light on the past in this respect. These very valuable documents, which were captured in the cases in the Ottoman Empire, contain a lot of important information about the period and the region when they were written. This study contains the Sharia court documents, which were recorded in Gaziantep between H.1267-1271/M.1851-1855, one of the Sharia Registries, which has a great importance in terms of Turkish history and culture. We have taken the 1-108 page intervals of this registry book, which consists of 215 pages in total, as the subject of this study. 126 of these documents are of legal nature and 6 of them are administrative documents, and there are 132 documents in total. The notebook was turned into a single page by bringing two pages side by side and taking the microfilms in that way. In the book, administrative documents such as petitions (petitions), edicts, orders and engagements, and legal documents such as alimony, inheritance, appointing a guardian, divorce, debt-paying are recorded randomly, not by classification. When we look at this book in terms of content, we see that we have relatively information about the administrative, social, cultural and economic situation of Gaziantep at that time. It has been tried to provide convenience to the reader by presenting the subjects, content, diplomatic features, Hijri-Gregorian dates and short document references of the documents we tried to transcribe in a different table for all documents. KEYWORDS: Ottoman Legal System, Sharia Registries, Kadılık Institution, Ottoman Provincial Organization, Gaziantep (Ayıntap)
