Özet (EN)
The Borgia Family is a family of Valencian origin and has an important place in the history of the Papacy. This family was first seen in the Church with Alfonso Borgia, who was crowned as Callixtus III; Although it is of great importance for the history of the Papacy and Italy, it is remembered in the Christian community for the sins it allegedly committed. However, Rodrigo Borgia, who was crowned as Alexander VI, the nephew of Callixtus III, is an important name not only in the history of the Papacy and Italy, but also in world history. The situation that made this family controversial was Alexander VI's secret marriage during his cardinalty period, in violation of the Church rules, and his children born from this marriage, who took active roles in the Church and the Papal State with a nepotistic attitude during his time as pope. For this reason, Alexander VI's children Cesare Borgia and Lucrezia Borgia came to the fore and became the target of many illegitimacy claims and accusations due to their activities in politics. Our aim in this study is to examine the actions of the Borgia Family and their bad reputation.
