Özet (EN)

One of the most important archive sources in elucidating issues related to the political, military, economic, legal, bureaucratic, religious and social life of the Ottoman Empire, which left great traces in world history, is the Sharia Registry Books. From XVth century to XXth, these books containing court records were kept by the kadi or nâib. The Sharia Registry Book No. 368, belonging to the Harput District of the Diyarbakır Province coincides with the period of Mehmed IV and Grand Vizier Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Pasha as it covers the period between H.1074-1075 (M.1663-1664). Sharia Registry Book's first 80 pages were studied as part of our subject. As the primary section of our thesis, Harput's history, the Sharia Courts and their officials, Sharia Courts' significance and also document types they include are mentioned. In the second part documents were summarised and classified by subject, in the third part documents were assessed and in the fourth part the registry book was transcribed. In the light of the data obtained from the registry in our study, our aim is to shed light on the history of the city and contribute to city history research by providing important information about the economic, legal, administrative, religious, social and cultural life of the Harput District in 1663-1664.
