Abstract (EN)

The word meaning of surre is "coin purse, money bundle, a purse in which things such as money and gold are placed and whose mouth is tightly tied." As a term, it is used for the money and gifts sent by the Ottoman Empire to the residents of Mecca and Medina. Surre submission started with the Abbasids and continued with the Fatimids, Ayyubids and Mamluks. Sending surre in the Ottoman Empire, started with Yıldırım Bayezid. It was sent during the reign of every sultan and became systematized and became a tradition. As long as the Ottoman Empire ruled, it took care to establish foundations. He pioneered the establishment of foundations in many areas needed by society and became almost identified with the foundation tradition. In addition to the foundation tradition, the Ottoman sultans sent a surre to Haremeyn due to the respect and love they showed to the holy places. In order for the surres to reach Harameyn, he created surre regiments and appointed surre emins, who were among the people at the upper levels of the state, to lead the regiments. He organized special ceremonies and sent gifts for the surre processions that would set out. The gifts and money sent were recorded and recorded in surre books. The study includes the surre book numbered 1805, sent to Medina in 1171/1757-1758. Surre book numbered 1805, which is the main subject of the thesis, was transcribed and evaluated.
