Abstract (EN)
In the second half of the 18th century, the Ottoman Empire tried to improve its weaknesses in the military field by making reforms. However, the failure of the measures resulted in the loss of the castles of the Ottoman Empire on the banks of the Danube after the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774, and the Russo-Turkish and Austro-Turkish Wars between 1787-1792. These military failures caused the adoption of a mutual diplomacy approach. Therefore, alliance agreements were made with Sweden and Prussia against Russia and Austria. With these attempts in the diplomatic field, the Ottoman State was able to hold the castles in the Danube for a while. Due to the military accomplishments of the Russians and Austrians, long-term domination was not possible in these lands. Although the castles of Hotin, Belgrade, Kili, İsmail, and Bender were occupied in this period, Ruscuk Castle was not occupied. The main theme of the study is to point out the importance of the Ruschuk Castle in terms of the military logistics of the Ottoman State on the Danube coast during the wars. This thesis consists of an introduction and three parts. In the first part, information is given about the geographical location and historical process of Ruschuk. In the second part, the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774 was studied by giving information about the conditions of Europe and the Ottoman Empire before the war. In the third part, the annexation of the Crimea, the Russo-Turkish and Austro-Turkish Wars between 1787-1792, the importance of the Ruschuk Castle in terms of the logistics of ammunition and the provisions between the fortresses on the Danube coast before and during the war.
