A research on atheism tendency among 18-20 years old high school graduates (Diyarbakir-Kulp sample)

Atheism is a concept formed by adding the negative suffix "a" in front of the word "theos", which means God in Greek, and is used to mean atheism. Atheism, which is a philosophical view that rejects God and harmoniously means 'does not recognize God' in Turkish, is a philosophical school that does not accept God as any explanation. With secularization, the perception of religion in society changes day by day and non-religious intellectual movements are common among young people. Due to changes in society, young people are experiencing identity crises and are in a search. In this search, our young generations, who come across anti-religious publications and social media accounts, leave their religious values aside and are ignorantly caught up in the currents of ideas. It is very common for our young people who have not been able to build their religious values on solid foundations to make such choices. For this reason, it is necessary to investigate the religious tendencies of young people, make plans in the light of the information obtained, and build religious education planning on solid foundations from an early age. Our study titled "Research on Atheism Tendency in High School Students" consists of two parts. The first part constitutes the theoretical part, while the theoretical framework is presented in this part, the findings are evaluated with the findings in the second part. By performing descriptive analysis on the variables, the situations affecting this trend were identified and it was determined that there was a slight trend among high school graduates. Young people represent the future of a society. Their beliefs, thoughts and behaviors provide important clues about what awaits us in the future. If we want a good future, we need to raise our young people according to our own beliefs and ideals.
