Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between exaggeration of bodily sensation and difficulties in emotion regulation with premenstrual syndrome symptom level in menstruating women aged 18-48 years. The sample of the study consisted of 287 people. Sociodemographic information form prepared by the researcher, Premenstrual Syndrome Scale, Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale and Exaggeration of Bodily Sensations Scale were used to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants. Statistical analysis of this study was performed using SPSS 27 software. The level and direction of the relationship between the scales were evaluated using Pearson Correlation analysis. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was determined that there was a significant positive correlation between premenstrual syndrome and emotion dysregulation (r=.68, p<0.01). According to another finding, there was a significant positive correlation between premenstrual syndrome and exaggeration of bodily sensation (r=.43, p<0.01). Regression analysis was used to determine the predictive power of the variables. As a result of regression analysis, it was determined that exaggeration of bodily sensation (R2=.18) and difficulty in emotion regulation (R2=.45) were predictors of premenstrual syndrome symptom level. In addition, it was found that premenstrual syndrome symptom level was positively correlated with emotion dysregulation difficulty and bodily sensation exaggeration level.
